A new Vice-Chancellor, with
views sympathetic women's education, Sir William Brunyate, was appointed, and at the St. S. G. C. Speech Day. In 1921, Miss Tao Shuk-kel. (our friend Dr. Tso's eldest daughter) made a very cloquent appeal to the Senate of the University to open its doors to women students.
This appeal was graciously re- ceived, with the result that women wore invited to attend lectures at the University.
Our Chinese friends felt that as St. Stephen's, Girl's College had such a very wide reputation for character building, the Church Missionary Society should under- take the hostel work for women undergraduates. This has been done, but only in a very small way in rented premises, simply for lack of funds,

In conclusion, Miss Wong appealed for financial support by members of the community whe had international Interests at heart and emphasised that they were not out to vle with the men students but to work in friendly, .co-operation for the betterment of

In emphasising that it was the... duty, of the Colony as a whole to see that women graduates who. como hero from elsewhere and those who lived here were given hostel accommodation, Mr. Kote wall said, that so long as the need was recognised to exist by the University it was the duty of the Colony to see that it was met to the best of its ability.
Dr. Kotowall also expressed the. thanks of the guests for the liberal hospitality and excellent entertainment.
