BUILDING BAZAAR.

OPENING YESTERDAY BY

LADY CLEMENTI,

"The monster bazaar, organized by St. Paul's Girls' College was, opened at the China Building by Lady Clemént! yesterday after noon. There was a crowded "at- tondance and an oxcellent dis- play of pretty and useful articles an offer.

The Hon. Dr. R. H. Kotewall C.M.G., chairman of the Honorary Building Committee introduced Lady Clementi and explained the objects of the bazuar. He said that in deference to the wishes of Miss Woo, the principal of the College, he would speak briefly in English and then make some re- marks in Chinese.

As chairman of the Building Committee he desired to

expresy his thanks to the College and to Lady Clomentt for consenting to open the bazaar. Her" prosence

was not only a great encourage- ment to them but an indieation that Lady, Clementi took a deep in- terest in female education,

He felt that the College did not need any persuasion to do what it had done and the fact that Lady Clementi was present set the seni on her approval and proved that the bazaar was worthy of support. Lady Clementi then declared the bazaar open, expressing the hope that the work done by the College would be rewarded and that the bazaar would prove to be a grest

It may be explained that the management of the affairs of the Institution is under a board of directors who are elected every three years. On the expiration of the term of office of any of the raumbers, new directors are clect- ed to fill the vacancy, or the old member is re-elected, to the post. There were.five retirements this year and of the number only Dr. Chau was re-elected.

At a subsequent meeting, whica will be held next week the board will sit to elect its president and other officials.

The only other .business brought up was the revision of the constitution, but it was decided that the subject should be post- pened till next month.
