Navy's giant PN-10 seaplanes from Philadelphia to Colon, Canal Zone: This picture shows the PN-10 No. 2, flagship of the expodi- tion, luffing out from the League Island Navy yard hangars to square around into the wind and taxi away on the long run needed to raise its 19,000 pounds out of the water. In the bow may be soon the bulký form of Commander E. T. Bartlett, commander of the flight, of whom the inset is a close-up.

TAKEN FROM THE AIR-Recapitulation of the casualties in the explosion on the oil tanker Mantilla in drydock at Baltimore had not been completed at the time this picture of the burning vessel was obtained. It appeared, however, that not less than 20, men lost their lives, and about 45 were hurt, few of those on board at the time escaping Injury either from the blast, bolioved to have been caused by an accumulation of gases in empty tanks, or in the ensuing flames. This is the only photo of the actual fire. It was. taken from an airplane affor the shipyard gates wore closed to camera men. Note how the heavy steel plates amidships on the vessel's starboard side wore rent by the explosion.
