COWARDLY THEFT.

CHILDREN MOLESTED ON WAY TO PARTY.

Two children, on their way to a Christmas party on Saturday after- noon, were robbed by a Chinese at a lonely spot in Robinson Road, according to reports received. Un fortunately the robber, although pluckily tackled by one of the chil- dren, made good his escape.

The children were Miss Shirley. Een de Silva and Miss Edna Car- roll, who were on their way to the residence of Captain and Mrs. C, Harris Walker.. Mias Da Silva was carrying a hand-bag and this at- tracted the attention of a tall Chinese in coolie garb, who come from behind and anatched the re ceptacle from beneath her arm.

Miss Carroll immediately seized the man and called for help but as there was nobody in the immediate vicinity, her appeals were in vain and the man, wrenching himself free of his young, assailant, made off at full speed.

The contents of the handbag were of no great value, but among other items was a Jubilee coin which has certain sentimental attachment and being somewhat rare, is also worth more as a curio than as currency.
