MUSSOLINI'S LUCK.

ASSAILANT STRANGLED,

Bologna, Nov. 1. What was left of Mussolini's assailant's body was removed to the police station. It revealed traces of strangulation and four- teen deep knife-thrusts. Mussolini, after inaugurating the scientific congress, was given a frenzied ovation by a crowd. in Neptune Square, when the shot was fired. Mussolini, unmoved. smiled upon the crowd and nodded as if to say "It is useless, he cannot hurt me."

He told those around him, "It is nothing," then, frowning, he or dered the Prefect, "Above ail, take all measures to prevent reprisals." The same instructions were sent to all the provinces.

Meanwhile the crowd surround- ed. Müasolin's motorcar, almost raising it from the ground, and with angry shouts turned on the youthful assailant stabbing him striking him with clubs and canes and killing him instantly

A Triumphal Progress.

The report of the attempt sproud like wildfire, so the remainder.of Mussolini's mile-long, drive to the station was transformed into a triumphal march with crios of "Viva Mussolini! Vive Duce! Woe to whoever touches you," accom- panied by the shaking of clenched Ests by the infuriated crowd:

Mussolini'e family were await ing him at the station, unaware of what had happened, and he told them almost jokingly of his.nar- row escape. His wife was greatly moved, and the children embraced him. The crowd, despite the efforts of police and carabineers to hold it back, invaded the station and gave him, an ovation until the train left for Forli.

There were 'great demonstra- tions, in celebration of Mussolini's. escape; all over Italy last night. Reuter.
