HURRICANE DAMAGE-Miami's modern buildings suffered bidly in the recent, hurricane. Here is the front of a business block, the roof torn off, steel beams hanging like twige of a wooping willow, the facade caved in past recognition.

MANY WRECKS.-Royal Palm Park with the wreckage of dozens of boats, some of which were blown fifty yards from the water's edge. In the background is the skyline of Miami.

MIAMI'S WATERFRONT-Above, the Royal Palm Docks, completed last year and used as a landing by palatial yachts, are stripped down to a few scattered pieces of piling. Stranded ships are in the distance. To the right is the wreck of the yacht Nobab, once the property of Kaiser Wilhelm.

BOATS ASHORE-Carried by the high watere from their moorings in Fair Haven canal, boats were swept into Miami avenue, completely blocking all'street traffe.

COTTAGE DEMOLISHED.-One of hundreds of the frail cottages on Miami Beach, which were ripped to kind- ing wood by the hurricane,

AZORES QUAKE-Here is a sample of the destruc- tion suffered by the town of Horta, in the Azores Islands. Every building was damaged to some extent and most of them destroyed during the terrific earthquake.

were tossed from the water and loft broken and battered.
