What might be termed the first meeting of the Shanghai Amateur Boxing Association was held. Just week in the Plaza Hotel, with 'Mr. E. H. In the Interport trial there were two or three changes from the originally selected teams, the most noticeable absentee being Bice. who was helping the Kowloon Cricket Club in a friendly match against the Indians. I understand that Brate will be turning out for the Peninsula side this year.

TO ENCOURAGE AMATEURS. Mr. McMichael briefly outlined the past history of amateur box- ing in Shanghai before the meet- ing went on to consider detalla re- garding the rules to be adopted by the association. He stated that the object.of the association was to encourage strictly amateur boxing, and with the assistance of the Police, H. M. Navy, and the S.V.C., to get up regular boxing nights here,, say, once a quarter. He suggested that the first moot Ling should be held about a month after the S.V.C. boxing tourna ment, and it was subsequently ar- ranged that the first night would be arranged for some time in the

middle of December.
