Shanghai, Oct. 11: Colonel Carmi Thompson has arrived here. He intends going to Peking on Wednesday then to Japan for two weeks, leaving later for Scuttle.

REJUVENATION.

A NEW PROCESS REPORTED.

An interesting development in the technique of rejuvenation is announced by the Central News from Vienna. Dr. Doppler, of that vity, claims to have discovered a new process which has already pro- duced

in noteworthy results patients on whom he has tried it at his clinic.

:

The new process is apparently much simpler than that of Steinach, and consists in flushing out. the main arteries with a solu- tion of phenol. By this method nervous contractions of arteries are avoided and the free circulation of the blood. is secured. The neces-- sity for an operation with its at- tendam risks is thga eliminated.

So far, the Doppler process has produced results only in male patients. Further researches, are in progress.

That such an effect, should be produced by such a cause, a medical correspondent writes, is in no way surprising. It has long been taught that blood is the finest is disinfectant known, and it obvious that if any organ" of the body is deprived of its blood supply that organ cannot be healthy.

The recuperative powers of the. body are almost unlimited, and there exists the well-known eaw that man is as old as his arteries. If Dr. Doppler has succeeded in re- juvenating the arteries supplying blood to any organ, and if that has been atrophied owing to à defec + tive blood supply, there is no obvious reason why it should not recover when the cause of the at- rophy is removed.
