AN EPIC FILM.

"ZEEBRUGGE” SHOWN IN

HONGKONG.

The film reconstruction of the battle of Zeebrugge, which was shown privately in Hongkong on Saturday, tells the story of that gallant naval attack for mpre vividly than any written descrip tion. It gives a correct historikal idea of the great battle and is. guaranteed, by the fact that both the English and Belgian Govet- menta lent their assistance in its production.

examined It was

by the Admiralty before being passed and approved and Capt. Carpenter," who was in command of the Vi dictive during the operations, has also expressed his appreciation at the film's accuracy and vividneer

The first part of the film deat with the reasons for the hazardous enterprise and there are some excellent, rather terrifying, scengg of the sinking of British merchant- men, by submarines. Most of these are actual German films. They were taken for war prop ganda purposes and were cap- tured in a German submarine when they were on their way to America..

From Start to Finish.

The reconstruction of the battle at the Mole is most ingenlupa. By means of a cleverly contrived. model of Zeebrugge, the move ments of each ship are carefully portrayed. We see the concentra- tion at the mouth of the Thames, the queerly assorted floot putting out to sea and every detail of the struggle on and around the Molo.

The sinking of the block ships la shown and the terrific bombard ment of all vessels taking part has been achieved in a thoroughly effective manner. There are some excellent scenes of the blowing up of the Mole by submarine C3 and of individual deeds of during by officers and men which gained their performers the Victoria” Cross. Altogether it is a splendid film of one of the most cleverly conceived and daring naval moves of modern times,

It will be shown at the Nelson Day celebration concert to ba held in the Queen's Theatre on October 21, at 9.80 p.m..
