He remarked on her conduct in the box, saying she appeared to be frightened, but she was quite conclusive on the point that the second man was not there at all. This woman had every motive to try and shield the first prisoner, who had been a husband to her for ten years, but she could have ho motive for shielding the second man. He put it to the jury that the identification evidence of the two fishermen was absolutely worthless. The only evidence they had was that the meri were two hundred yards from the spot, and he pubát to them that it was, ludicrous to suggest that they could recognise people on the boat from that distance.
