GAMBLING FEVER.

PRINCES AND MILLIONAIRES JOIN IN FURIOUS PLAY.

All records for gambling in the Casino are being broken at Deau ville, the famous, watering place now patronised by the fashionable world of Paris. Hindu Princes, British and American millionaires, ind society people from all over the Continent are participating in the hectic excitement of the gambling. It is estimated that £200,000 changes hands cach night in the Casino, Deauville will pro bably make a revenue of £2,000,- 000 from its visitors. during the next two weeks. The place has never been more crowded. Al though the hotels have." trebled their accommodation since 1925, says the British United Press, hundreds of week-end visitors are unable to secure accommodation. The display of wealth is amazing but it is noticed that many fash- ionable women are abandoning their claborate. beach costumes," which are one of the "sights" of Deauville, and taking to less no- ticeable one-piece suits. A Grask syndicate, which has been attempt- ing to "break the bank" at one of. the gaming centres, has WEB £100,000 so far. A stake of £10 is regarded as insignificant. in most of the resorts.
