V. R. C. FETE

GALA FOR TO-NIGHT,

What

gave.

Our thanks are due the Hong- kong Jockey Club for a monthly subscription which practically paid, for the keep of the present pack and enabled us to use all subscrip tions for getting hounds from home which cast about £12 a piece to bring out.

We also thank Lieut. Com.dr. Spragge and Mr. Bousfield for special donations and the latter for a motor car which he has very kindly presented to the hunt.

M

Hounds went out, roughly, every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning during the season (Oct./April) except when racing or paper chases intervened.

Better Prospects. Owing to the "scratchiness" of che pack the majority of which had trained on a drag we confined our- selves during the first part of the season almost entirely to the latter but later on successfully drew for foxes on various occasions, which gives us every reason to hope that as soon as we can get together a decent pack of principally, fox- hounds we shall be able to show good sport at the legitimate game.

As subscribers who have been out hunting well know we have only hunted a very small part of the, rideable country within reach of Fanling.

A second "Night Fete is being held at the V.R.C. this evening.

The Coming Season. For the coming season we in- tend to hold at least 5 Steeple- chase meetings beginning with one at the end of October and also one or more Point to Point during the Xmas., New Year, and Easter holidays.

With regard to the hunting we regret that owing to the lateness of the paddi crop although bar senson should start on October 1st only the hill part of the coun- try will be rideable until early November..."

Subscribers will be pleased to hear that the Railway Co. have kindly given us the same privilege as the Golf Club and books of tickets can be obtained from the Master.

We are in treaty for a house at Fanling for the use of subscribers and hope to fix up the lease in the next day or two. We have asked Mr. Mans to undertake the run- ning of this, and subscribers will be notified as soon as the "Hun- ter's Arms" is open.

"Mr. Stanton hay kindly under taken to run the Paper Chases and Point to Points during the season.

Mr. George Middleton, Chair- man of the Staff side, said it would be a bad day's work for the Goy crnment if the, threat were car ried out. It would upset the Service from top to bottom. He asserted that Mr. Churchill had been carried away by his love of Mussolini's methods.
