The fate of a Mr. John R. Luxton and his family is one

of the unsolved mysteries of the Lake Danmark blast. This is his home, near the scene of the explosion, but no trace of the people has been obtained.

This picture shows what remains of one of the ammunition storehouses at the army arsenal, Picatinny, after it had boon bonbarded by shells from the naval arsenal at Lake Denmark, several miles away. The naval arsenal, fired by & belt of lighting, show. drod huge shells over many miles of territory, causing $100,000,000 damige and taking many lives.

These sheet iron storehouses of the Picatinny arsenal piled full of heavy shells, were twisted and warped by the blasts until they looked, observers. said, like red shredded wheat.

When the Lake Denmark, naval ammunition depot blew up,'force of the blast scat- tered the nearby freight loading-station over the surrounding country, leaving behind what you see here, shreds of lumber, bont fails and the remains of a car.
