MILITARY LANDS.
The fact that during the course of last year the Hongkong Govern- ment came into possession of cer- tain lands hitherto held by the military authorities will perhaps have the effect of again centring public interest on the general question of the military lands, concerning which there were very lengthy debates in the Logislative Council in 1924. It appears from the annual report of the Land Officer that the lands which have recently been transferred to civil authority comprise the Pinewood Battery, the High West Reserve and the Sanitarium site at Maga- zine Gap. Nothing is said in the report as to the conditions under which these lands reverted to the Government, and it would be in- teresting if some information on that point could be vouchsafed.
