Miss Patty is the daughter of a minister. She taught in Sunday school as soon as she could take the "cradle class," showed herself the born leader of the Young Peo- ple's Society and more than a year ago prenched her first sermon from her father's pulpit.
"The modern girl," according to Miss Horn, "is blamed because she seeks to make an attractive nap- pearance. How can you blame her for that personal pride? Every girl has a right to be, attractive. Bobbed hair is becoming to the average girl. It is easier cared for than long hair. It is sensible.
"Skirts of medium shortness are 'sensible, too. They permit the girl to lead the active life she is accustomed to lend. They are more dainty, more healthy and cleaner..

"I do not like my young women to be smoking, drinking, awenring, jazzing and joy-riding. Joy-riding is immoral. It teaches. boys and girls to regard frivolously the most sacred and pure of all things. It teaches them to be cynical about love. It induces them to becomie blase, wordly-wise, and old before their time.
"My young people get greater and purer fan from their games, puzzles, and contests."

woman cat burglar, who dresses fashionably and wears light silk stockings, is "operating" in the Wembley district.
"Miss Gaynor Aldous, who lives in Ilarrowdene-rond, recently told how.she, foiled the woman burglar.
"I was sitting in my bedroom," ehe. said "when I saw a woman climbing up a ladder placed against the back window of the house next door. At first I thought it was one of the occup ants of the house, but when sho looked up I could see she was a stranger.
"As soon as she noticed me alle. hurried down the ladder where upon I ran out of my room and downstaira.
"As I was hurrying down, il heard a crash as though the wo- man had fallen from the ladder, and when I got into the garden she had climbed the edge at the bottom of the garden of the house next door and was minking off across some. flelds, I save chase.. but she escaped over the railway
