PROTRACTED BIDDING AT CHINA AUCTION ROOMS.

Property sales were held ab Messrs. Hughes and Hough's and also at the China Auction Rooms yesterday, when lots situated in Hill Road and Queen's Road Cen- trul were disposed of gt fair prices. The most interesting sale was that at the China Auction Rooms, where Mr. E. V. M. R. de Sousa put up Section E of Inland Lot No. 22 (0) together with the building · thereon known as No. 80 Queon's' Road Central, having an area of 1,202 square feet, annual Crown Rental of $21.10 and held for the unexpired residue of the extended term of 924 years from March, 1844.

The opening price was $20,000. with bids of $200 acceptable, but the price quickly jumped to $30,000, with many prospectiva customers making offers. When the price rose beyond this, the sale resolved itself into a three cornered duel, with hids at longer intervals, until the lot was at last knocked down to Mr. Ng Kal Shung of Macao, for $56,200 after 86 bids had been made in a sale occupying three quarters of an hour.

At Messrs. Hughes and Hough's Auction Rooms, the lot put up was Section F of Subsection 5′ of In- land Lot No. 795, having an arca of 855 aquare feet at an annual Crown Rental of $3.49 and held for a term of 909 years from January, 1898.

Opening at $7,000, with bids of $250 acceptable, throe raises of $500 were made and the lot was knocked down to Mr. Shun Hip Tong for the sum of $8,500.-.-.
