NO ANNUAL DINNER AFTER BRILLIANT SEASON.

DYWANDERER."]

It is a poor sort of reflection on the supporters of the Kowloon Football Club that, for the second time in a month, the committee has had with reluctance,to cancel the annual dinner owing to lack of sufficient support If Kowloon had done badly their viewpoint might be understood, but the main Iand club has exceeded in achieve "ment anything previously known in its history, and incidentally "created a record in the annals of Hongkong football in carrying off the league championship and the Senior Shield.

Those mare keenly interested in the Club's affairs decided to hold a more or less private function at the Palace Hotel on Saturday even- ing and seventeen meinberk sat down to an enjoyable repast. Entertainment in the form of smoking concert brought a happy gathering to a close.

The baseball season opened auspiciously over the week-end with II.E the Governor pitching the first ball, and M, RC Tredwoll (American Consul General) acting as catcher, but the games were not up to expects tions, most of the players: suffer ing from lack of practice, and being out of touch with the feel of the sphere,

on his seventh visit to the table, Osmund exceeded that century and his total, the whole of which was scored while Falkiner was get- ting 325, was the highest made against the visitor during his tour of the East. At the conclusion of the game Falkiner declared that Osmund had proved his best ama teur opponent in four years,

. With a lead of 71, and the fact that he was in fora, Osmund look- dikely to bring off a big sur prise, but he visited a table only once more and was on that occasion faced with a double baulk.

South China blanked the Japanese and won by aayen runs to nil. The whole of the scoring was done in the second. Innnigs, when Ishimitsu cracked up, and the infield went to pieces in ana orgy of reckless throwing,

The Chinese made but three hits, but Ishimatsu walked four others, and the procession continued until Hachiuma relieved Ishimatsui Ah Man (a nom-de-guerre of Leung Yuk-tong, the footballer) batted perfectly, scoring a hit at every appearance at the plate.

Falkiner doubled his score with brilliant break of 325, rendered the more notable since he lost the white before reaching 200 and made the remainder of his break of the 'red. Following Osmund's' miss, Falkiner ran to his points with 222 to spare in a remarkably well played break of 372.

Falkiner "averaged 68, and Os- mund had the creditable ver- age of 24. The final scores were: Falkiner: 1,020 (90, 62, 49, 325, 272); Osmund: 386 (81, 35, 115, 37, 55).

PROBABILITY OF DRAWN

GAMOS.

London, May 22.-The general opinion in the cricketing world, after seeing the batting form dis- played by the Australians in their county matches, is that the Test matches will end in drawn games.

As far as English players are concerned the season so far has resulted in no discoveries of any special new talent either in bat ting or, bowling, although Chap- man, Hobbs and Tate, who were so prominent in the tour in Australia, stand out and sevin to have lost none of their form.

There are plenty of promising amateurs playing but there has not been enough cricket to enable any reliable forecast to be made as to their possibilities in test match .., cricket.

The Filipinos eventually drew level, but the last innings run gained the day for the Hongkong team.
