An Earthquake.
An earthquake in 1918 damaged the College building. The main walls of the annexes were badly cracked and it was considered un- safe to remain in occupation of the building. The opportunity pre- sented itself for the acquisition of the extensive property in Kennedy Road. This happened during an early stage of Brother Almar's' ad- ministration. Since 1918, the Col- lege authorities have become the Crown lessees of this most de sirable property.
Thank to Brother Aimar's un- flinching courage and determina- tion to face all financial. dimeul- ties and to the aid granted by the Colonial Government, the erection of the fine, spacious building is now an accomplished fact.
