Mrs. Gill appeared as complain-. ant against Miss Sequeira and her own two nieces, the Misses Beatriz and Celeste Gill, the three of whom were charged with disorderly con- duct...

Mrs. Gill further sunimoned the three girls for 'assaulting her,

Miss Sequeira and the Misses Gill were represented by Mr. G. S. Hugh-Jones.

Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Gill were re- Presented by Mr. M. K. Lo.

Mr. D. McCallum appeared for Mr. Barros, and the Messrs. Prata, A Scene.

Mr Hugh-Jones, having served the first summons, opened his case.. He said that on Sunday, April 25, the original complainant, Miss Sequeira and the two Misses Gill attended the evening performance at the Star Theatre, Kowloon, and during the time they were there, Mr. and Mrs. Gill arrived and sat" in the seats immediately in front

of them.

As far as he understood, none of the parties showed any signs. of recognition.. During the course of the picture the three girls got very excited and bezan laughing. Miss Sequeira accidentally kicked the back of the seats occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Gill-who turned round- and compained of being thus dis turbed. Miss Séquelra apologised and told Mrs. Gill that it was pure- ly accidental.**

That, continued Mr. Hugh-Jones, was as far as his.client was con- cerned with what might be called the preliminary stage of the in- ridents leading to the charges.

At the corelusion of the picture, Miss Sequeira and the two Misses Gill went to the ladies' lavatory, which is situated in the theatre. On arriving inside they had to wait and a few minutes later Mrs. Gill burst into the room. Miss Sequeira was standing with her. back to the door, and she was very violently struck when it was push- ed open by Mrs. Gill.

On entering the compartment Mrs. Gill was heard to call out to her husband, "Here the: are!" Mr. GI followed immeditaciy after his wife, who had evidently gone in search of the girls.

A General Mélce. Mr. Gill entered the lavatory in an apparently heated and uncon-. trollable state. He either walked or ran up to where the complainant was standing and struck her with Morning and Afternoon Teas, his umbrella. That appeared to.
