MYSTERY MAN.
GIVING AWAY HIS MONEY,
Scotland Yard bave been asked to help in the search for the Mystery Man who recently caused great excitement in tho East-und by giving away money,
He is believed to he Mr. Max Hyman, a German by birth and an Australian by naturalisation, living in Brussols.
He has been missing from his home since last November, and nows of his whoreabouts is being sought by his solloitors, Messrs. Rubinstein, Nash, and Co., ‚ of Raymond-buildings, Gray's-inn-
road.
"We are almost certain," sald Mr. Ronald Rubinstein to al Daily Chronicle representative, that our missing client and the Man Who Gives Away Monoy' are ono and the sume.
SISTER'S ILLNESS.. "His relatives in Belgium are. most anxious to find him, as his sistor is seriously ill. At our request the police have circulated his description as follows-
Ago about 55; height about 5ft. 3in.; grgy wiry hair, scraggy moustache: rather shabby ap- pearance and unkempt: weirs spectacles; pushes head forward when speaking; Garman, accent; calls himself Australian; rolling! gait; probably wearing a brown overcoat; prominent pose..
Mr. Rubinstein'said that dur- ing a visit to some family friends at Kensington Mr. Hyman pro- duced a receipt for a £2 gift.
This lod them to believe that he was the Mystery Man whose activities were described in "The Daily Chronicle."
NOT WEALTHY.
"So far as we know Mr. Hyman, is not a wealthy man, the solicitor continued, "but he
well-to-do. is certainly
Last May he was taken ill, and was for four months in a Brussols sanatorium...
"When he came out” he said, 'God has told me to give away my monoy. His relations kopt him short of funds, and the source. of the money which he has been giving away is all part of the mystary..
"I think that by now his cash must almost have run out," Mr. Rubinstein said: We last hoard of him or a man closely answer- ing his description-living in a common.lodging-house in White- chapel. His last known, act of wild generosity was to give. £25 to. a costar who was selling oranges on March 5 in Middlesex- street, E. Ce sh
"How's business?' he said to the man.
"Rotten!' was the reply, the coster then being amazed to find himself handed 25 new, pound notes."
FAMOUS CUTLER'S
LAD,
CITY'S FREEDOM FOR DR.
COWARD...
Dr. Honry Coward, coaduetor of the famous Sheffield Choir, which is also known as the Shoffield Musical Union, was pre- sented with the freedom of the City of Sheffield last month, His! choir also celebrated its jubilee.
Acknowledging the honour, Dr. Coward said: "I am proud most of all that in prosenting me with the freedom the Council have made a record for Sheffield, and set a precedent for other cities to follow.. As far as I can gather, this is the first time that'a city has risen to the unwonted height of recognising the claims of the imaginative, and intangible, "a something outside the material things of life."
Dr. Coward is a remarkable
man.
Starting work in very hard and humblo circumstances дя A cutlor's lad, then struggling thorough by sheer grit and daring to become a schoolmaster. and finally reaching the pinnacle. of his career as a doctor of music, he is still unspoilt.
