SHOT TO DEATH.

FORMER HONGKONG MAN KILLED:

PHILIPPINE AFFAIR

Mr. George W. MacClintock, for- merly of Hongkong and Manila, who was owner and manager of the American Pharmacy in Zamboanga, and M. Raspal, an employee, were shot and killed on Sunday last by Antonio Maldonado who then end- ed his own life, according to a special dispatch to the Manila Bulletin from Zamboangu.

The motive of the shooting was not revealed in the brief message, but it has been learned Mr. Mac- Clintock had often expressed to his friends his fear of dying suddenly,. either by pistol or knife and that during the last five years or more, he had taken every precaution against a sudden attack.

The deccased, who was about 45 years of age, is survived by his widow and three children. He first came to the Philippines in 1000 as a volunteer in the American Army: After serving with the colours a few years in Mindanao, he received his discharge and married the daughter of a Spanish planter in Basallan. A year or so later he started the American Pharmacy in Zamboanga in partnership with an- other ex-soldier named Corbett, but soon sold out and went to work for the old Botica Bole.. in 1915, Mr. . MacClintock left for Hongkong when he managed the Fletcher and .Company Pharmacy until 1918. when he returned to work again for the Botica Boie. He was placed in charge of the wholesale dopuri- ment and remained there until 1921, when he went back to Zam- boanga and bought out the inte- rests of Elser and Smith in The American Pharmacy.

Mr. MacClintock was a native of Key West, Florida and studied pharmacy in Philadelphia.
