THE TRIUMPH OF THE "TWO-PIECE."

HATS FOR THE OLDER WOMAN.

Hats for matons' year are re- ceiving really serious attention this season, and without being fussy, are showing a note of fantasy and picturesqueness, Satin and volour felts have a much more sympathetic outline than a severe folt, and, added to this, there are individual shapos which follow no direct mode, but aro invariably "chic." Many are soft, almost shapeless borots. These are lovely models. in shad ed velvet. Others are on small finos adorned with plumes, placed to give dignity before smartness. Then thero is the tiny hat. Tarlans are to bo suen, and those are luxuriantly adorned with heavily embroidered and jewel- encrusted Crowns, with just something by way of a quint matching ornament to break the conventional linos

Stitched velvet and teffatas, nee also good models for the older woman, shea they are definitely made on wide brim lines, adorned with floppy self bows.

Gauged velvet hats are also to be seen, and as a trimming soft- ly falling landor plumage is bo- jing revived. This winter no woman can have any excuse for being badly hatted.

ARR YOU CULTIVATING A DOUBLE CHIN?

A double chin is not always thrust on a woman. Somatimos, sho cultivates this very disfigur- ing feature. Prevention is better than cure in most things and in nothing more than in beauty cul- ture. Don't allow a double chin. to make an appearance. It won't if you take care to keep the head well up when reading, working, ato.

Don't bend over the book whon reading. To do eo is not only bad for the line of your chin but it is not good for the sight. Koop the head lovel and hold the book up in such a position that the print can be road without any sirain on the eyes. If you read a lot and are too lazy to hold the book while reading, there are book rests that can be bought quite cheaply, which will save you the trouble and will protecti you from the chance of dovelop- ing a double chin.

<

Should you, however, havo developed a second chin already there is no reason to despair. Exercises and the use of a good astringont, lotion will, if persever ed with eventually restore the line of the chin and throat, but perseverance is needed if a com- plete cure is to be effected.

Nack turning exercises are boat for the purpose, Stand orect, clench the tooth, then turn the head towards the right looking over the right shoulder, then, still elenching teeth, turn towards the left, looking over the left should. or. The túrning movement should be done very slowly and the chin tilted slightly upwards as the head nears the shoulder.

Another exercise which will help on the good work consists of clenching the teeth and dropping the chin toward the chest, Then, with a quick jerking movement,

The value of black, in artistic effects is always inestimable and many of the beautiful bowls aro black outside and a 'contrasting hue within, which note of colour may be picked up again by the decorative bird or insect.-

TO-DAY'S BEAUTY NOTE.

You have heard probably of the new methods of bleaching.and cloaring the skin by means of olay and masks. Do you know that the same treatment can be carried out at home with sour milk?} When the milk becomes like janket, hang it to drain in a mus. lin bag. When it is of the con- sistency of cream cheese, apply it all over the face, working it well into the skin. Leave this on for about half an hour, and repeat: the treatment twice a wook. You will find it tones up the skin wonderfully, leaving it very fair and smoother

There is much of Egyptian in the long lines of this frock as well as its lovely Nilo green. colouring, Gold tube-lika beads and ovals of French tvory make a most unusual trimming. The beads outline the ovals and are strung to indicate the waistline of the frock
