LOCAL HOCKEY.

A WIN FOR THE "HAWKINS."

The second cleven of the Hong- kong Hockey Club made a poor show against a team from II.M.S. Hawkins at the Marina "ground, Kowloon, last evening, when they were defeated by seven goals to öne. So far this season; this is the heaviest reverse that hus fallon to the lot of any of the three Club teams, and while they failed to take chances that might have: onabled them to score one or two more goals, the sailors were easily the beller side, and deserved to The win by large margin. constantly recurring misfortune of failing to field a complete Club team was again noticeable. On resuming, the sailors etilli held the upper hand, and although the Club showed rather better form, they were still easily cut- classed, They made several good attempts, and on one occasion, an almost certain goal was missed by one of the forwards. A rapid run- away by the Indian player on the right wing opened up another chaned which was missed. Before the end, "Mi Shipman Stephenson scored a sixth, and Lieut. Haley aj seventh.
