Berlin, Jan. 18 A shattering detonation,due to the explosion of gas and petrol, aroused the residents of the Moabit district of Berlin early this morning. A four storeyed house collapsed liko A pack of cards, burying the pecu. pants oight feet in the debris. The whole street is a scene. of wild destruction. A motor car was hurled away and smashed to pieces. All the windows in the neighbourhood were broken, the window frames hanging" over the. streets. The fire brigade' are working feverishly. Every 10- mont they are threatened with fur- ther collapses of loosened THA- Boury.

The explosion caused an escape of gas, which caught fire and apread to a chandler's shop, where it ignited a barrel of benzine.

The house was Inhabited by twenty-five families, and forty persons have hitherto been tricated, of whom five are dead and 20 seriously injured.-Reuter.

.. Lady Lush, wife of the Right Hon. Sir Charles Montague Lush, who was a Judge of the King's Bench Division from 1910 till last May, died recently after a short illness, as Tanglewood, Bushey Heath. She was Margaret Abbie, fourth daughter of the late Bir Charles Locock, second baronet, and was married to Bir Charles Lush in 1893. She leaves. four sons and two daughters.
