TOKYO INCIDENT CREATES: SENSATION.
Tokyo, January 9.
This morning's papers give pro- minence to the Brazilian Amihas- sador's "outrage," which is regarded. not only as causing bodily injury. and interfering with the police in. executing, their duty,, but also as disrespect to the Imperial proces- sion by a diplomat who should have- known better.
The Kokumin and other papera that Mr. de Limae recommend Silva be recalled by the Brazilian Government.
Though the Ambassador has not yet explained his action, it is believed that his lack of knowledge of the language was partly respon sible for the incident.
It seems that the police pre vented the angered, crowd from mobbing the Ambassador whose identity was not at Arst known.
Apology Not Offered.
Tokyo, January 9.
It is learned from the Foreign Office that the Bruzilian Ambus- sador, Mr. de Limae Silva has sent to Baron Shidehara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, his own written account showing that the language difficulty was partly responsible, but making no apology.
