Tuesday's Football Match.
Bir, Tho comments in your paper of the 23rd instant rospact- ing the South China v. Navy soccer match last Tuesday, by the contributor who writes under tho namo "Wanderer," have been brought to my notice and as they imputa or infor bad sportsman- įship on my part, I foel constrained
to say a few words.

After the drawn game on Saturday the 10th instant, it was arranged a replay should take place on Tuesday, the 22nd in- stant at 4 p.m. At the time this | arrangement was come to, I had quite overlooked a most im- portant ceremony which I was bound at attend at 5 p.m. on the 22nd instant and could not put off. I did not remember this until late on Saturday night, when I saw our Socrutary and informad him of it. I explained that I would have to keop my appointment at 5 p.m. on Tues- day and that I could play were the match to start at 3 pr. but would be unably to play any ex- tra time in the event of the match being a draw.
When Tuesday's match again onded in a draw, in view of my previous engagement and my no- lice to our Secretary and of the short time then left at my dis- posal to dress and get to the ap- pointed place, it was absolutely impossible for me to continué for the extra time which I then learnt for the first time would be played. I did not know what our Socrotary had arranged regarding the match, but in view of the highly import- ant nature of my engagement and the notice given of it, I would not stay to play any longer. I was not actuated by any ulterior motives or bad sportsmanship. I simply had to leave in accordance with a definite pre-arranged appointment,
Wanderer" apparently wrote without knowing the facts, and in view of my explanation, I am sure, if he is the sportsman he holde himself to be, ho will withdraw bis insinuations.- Yours, otc.

SEVERAL TRIBES SURRENDERING.
Fez, Dec. 25. The disintegration of the Riffan block continues with increasing rapidity. The whole Senadja triho has made a surrender and handed over hostages and arms. The Senadja tribe, which held the Wergha Valley, was not only one of the most important units, but the occupation of its territory will give the French great strategic ad- vantages.
"The tribe of Beni Oulid has also surrendered. According to a mes- sage from. Wezzan the tribes at Jebala and Ghomara have rebelled against Abd el Krim, who has im- prisoned or executed the principl Calds appointed by him.-Havas.
