The National Assembly of Persia has adopted a resolu- tion defosing their ruler. Shah Ahmed, above, in

favour of Premier Reza Khan. The overthrow of the Kajar dynasty, which has ruled Par. sia for the last three centu- ries, was the result of Shah Ahmaod's refusal to go to Porsia from, Paris at the request of the Assembly.

The forward end of the Italian freighter Ignazio Florin, photographed from the rescue ship, President Harding, just before she went down on October 21, about 1,700 miles east of New York. This picture was taken during the storm which wřicked the vessel, and immediately after the crew were saved. She sank soon afterwards.

The 27 officers and men of the Ignazia Florio, brought safe into New York by the American liner, President Harding.

There were anxious moments for the doomed Ignazio

Florio and the rescue ship President Harding when this

photograph was taken.

In the distance, water-legged,

storm-bettored and ready to sink, is the freightor-its crew

praying for help. In the foreground is an overturnod life-

boat of the President Harding, lost in one of the early

rescue attempts,
