A highly impressive and touching ceremony took place at the War Memorial at Shanghai on Armistice Day morning when Senior Consul Comm. G. N. de Rossi (Italy) hoaded a procession of public representatives, club officials, con- sular officers, ptc., and laid the first wreath at the foot of the Cenotaph. After the Senior Consul (seen in inset at right top cornor of picture) had addressed the gathering, the various representatives also placed their wreaths around the base of the monument. There was a great number of floral tributes and our picture shows the public examining thon after the official coremony. Inset on the loft shows officials saluting the Memorial.

Shanghai, witnessed a fitting celebration of Armistice Day. From nine o'clock onwards the morning hours were mainly devoted to soloma thought of those who had died, the chief functions being the wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, the services in Holy Trinity Cathedral and other Churches, and the generally boserved silence of two minutas at
11 o'clock. The first public ceremony took place at the Cenotaph, during which this picture was taken. In the background
