Acting under a warrant issued by the West Malling (Kent) magistralce, the police there last month arrested Lord Torrington at Yalding, where he has been in residence for some time, and took him to West Malling, where he was charged with uttering a cheque for £10 alleged to be worth- less.

The cheque, it is stated, was made out on a sheet of note- papor, and drawn on a Notting- ham bank. He was later charged before a magistrate and released
