An Error of Judgment.
The enquiry was continued at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon into the circumstances of the death of Bessie Mackay, who was killed in a recent bus accident, Mr. H. Barrett gave his account of the fatality, which he said was absolutely beyond his understand ing. He attributed his coming in contact with the bus to an error of judgment.
Evidence of identification of the body of the deceased was given by Mr. B. Guest nod Sergeant C.E. Warren & Co., Ltd. Rozsky, the latter stating that

Yeung Hin, a telephone clerk of the Kowloon Fire Station, stated that he received a call for the jambulance at 7.15 p.m. On receipt of the message witness told the caller to wait till he telephoned for the Hongkong ambulance. On being connected with the Hongkong Fire Station witness was told that the ambulance was not available, as it had gone to the Victoria Hot- pital.

Answering a further question, witness said that he gave orders to the clerk in Iongkong to send a message to Kowloon immediately the ambulance returned. Mr. P. J. Condon, assistant at the Central Fire Station, produced the log book in which was recorded the movements of the ambulance from the time of the call from the Kow- loon Fire Station. Witness said that at 7.12 p.m. a message was received from Kowloon requiring the motor ambulance to be at the Star Ferry Wharf as soon as it had returned, it having left at 6 pm and rone to Mount Austin Barracks to convey a patient to the Govern- ment Civil Hospital. At ten minutes into seven it returned and left imme-
diately for the Star Ferry Wharf.
