A medical student, M. Herri Vallon. has been decorated in hospital at Paris with the Cross of the Legion of Hanour, follow- ing on the amputation of his loft an, an operation, which was necessitated by an accident which cecurred in the course of his work..

Two years ago M. Vadon, who was then only twenty-one, was administering a hypodermie in- Jection to a patient about to he operated in for cancer, when the syringe slipped. piercing M. Vadon's band. He paid no ut- tention to the incident until a tumour formed; a minor opera-, tion proved ineffective, and final- ly it was decided to remove the arm at the shoulder.
