GERMAN MORPHINE SMUGGLERS...

The seizure at Vancouver of $100,000 worth of morphine con- tained in trunks from Germany and labelled for Japan is expected to result in the arrest of a number of German smugglers and the exposure of a scheme for smuggling morphine into Canada from Japan. Oficials of the Department of Health believe the drugs were shipped from Germany via Quebec to Japan and smuggled back from Japan.-Reuter's American Service. -

It is semi-officially stated that the Soviet Government has ratified the programme for oil production in Russia for the year 1925 at 513,000,000 poods and assigned 119,000,000 roubles for the renewat of the plant and equipment of the industry. Last year's programme of oil production which was fixed at 418,000.000 poods was exceeded by three per cent.--Reuter.
