The first witness called yesterday was Francisco Xavier dh Rosa, who said he was a general clerk in the office of Getz Bros. up to the end of last month. One of his duties was to fill in the bills payable book. He said the entries from April 1924, onwards in the book (pro- duced) were in his writing.
Mr. Blake. Since that book has been closed was there a subsequent book which you also kept.
Witness. Yes.

On October 14, four drums of spirits of wins were denatured for the Tai On firm of No. 18 Hamilton Street. On one previous occasion witness! had followed the coolies delivering the wine to the applicants' premises and found that the wine for thei Tai On firm was taken to a godown in Coronation Road, where witness found a well sunk into the floor. There were no other furnishings, on the premises and the godown bore no signs of having been em- ployed in the varnishing trade.
The denaturing of wine started: generally in the afternoon and the entire process would be completed and the drums delivered to their owners by 4 p.m.
