The first witness called yesterday was Francisco Xavier dh Rosa, who said he was a general clerk in the office of Getz Bros. up to the end of last month. One of his duties was to fill in the bills payable book. He said the entries from April 1924, onwards in the book (pro- duced) were in his writing.

Mr. Blake. Since that book has been closed was there a subsequent book which you also kept.

Witness. Yes.

Mr. Blake. From what did you get your information with which! you filled in that book?

There were no other furnishings, on the premises and the godown bore no signs of having been em- ployed in the varnishing trade.

The denaturing of wine started: generally in the afternoon and the entire process would be completed and the drums delivered to their owners by 4 p.m.
