This big monoplane was the "pathfinder" for the Detroit Aviation Society's reliability air race, Bopt. 28 to Qol. 3.. It was piloted by Eddio Stinson and covered a five-day loop of these cities: Fort Wayne, Chicago, Molino, Don Moinos, St. Joseph, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cleveland and Detroit The race, the first of its kind, was open to commercial planes, and a $7,000 trophy was offered by Mr. Edsel Ford, as a means of aiding in the development of commercial aviation.
