For more than a work,a devastating forest fire raged in the Big Tujunga Canyon; east of Pasudena, Cal--all bocause of a rattle-snake bite. A camper, bitten by the snake, rushed tu a nearby town" for treatment, without extinguishing his camp fire. Hundreds of acres of timber wore burned and the towns of Sunland and La Croskenta endangered. Many volunteer fire fighters were prostrated by smoke fumes and others severely burned. Below one of the volunteers, overcome- by smoke, is shown being carried to safety.
