Tokyo, October 1-A rainstorm last night in the: Tokyo district resulted in three known and sight unconfirmed deaths. Thousands of houses were partially submerged

This evening's report states that 42,000 housea were partially sub- merged in Tokyo. There were landalides resulting in twenty deaths in Yokohama and six in 1okohama." SHIPPING STRIKE ENDING,

East London: Oct, 1 The crews of the last two vessels hold up by the strike have returned to work, thus ending the strike here.

Cape Town, Oct. 1. The strikers have hitherto behaved blamelessly but some ill-feeling' among the remaining "last ditch" strikers resulted in a running fight between the pickets and seamen attempting to return to their ships. The police dispersed the rioters-Reuter.

BOARD OF TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT.

London, Oct. 1.

The Board of Trade announce that as from October 1 the require- ment of Import licences will be withdrawn for all commercial goods imported from Germany, except a small number-Reuter.
