Chinese Merchants Opposed to the Strike.

A meeting of the Committee of the, Chinese Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday at 2:30 pm, for the purpose of discussing the financial and trade questions of the Colony. There was a large at tendance, Mr.Li-You-Chuen-presid ing.

The Chairman said that. somo members of the Chamber had re- presented to him that the money market was still very stringent, and owing to the property slump, mány banks had suspended connection with their clients. Things, however, he thought would improve it proper arrangements were made with the compradores of the banks. But

At the Kowloon Magistracy yes- terday a Chinese motor driver appeared before Mr. E. W. Hamilton on a charge of driving his motor car recklessly, along the Cheung Sha Wan Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

Sanitary Inspector Kerrison testified to the car's speed being between 45 to 50 miles per hour' when he saw it approaching him on the Cheung Sha Wan Road at 3.30. p.m. on Tuesday. The roadway was clear and, witness, had turned to give an order to his coolies when on looking in the direction from which the car was seen, he found
