Thiovos were neatly caught at work at a late hour on Wednesday night by a patrolling police launch. It appears two Chinese, were work-. ing on the forecastle of the 8.5. Hyson, a Blue Funnel ship lying at a buoy. Below was a sampan in which were two more Chinese receiving Manila rope as # came over the bows from those working above..

Directly the presence of the police was discovered all four leapt into the water. The police fired shots and one man trod water while he put up his hands. He was caught, but by that time the others hi macie good their escupe, In the sumpan about $1,000 worth of rope was found.
