Relief For Guilty Not ́ Remedy For Innocent.

Many of those divorce cason · are a perfect farce. The Legia- . lature had much bettor let people 0 before a registrar, and rooord the fact that they no longer wish to live in marriage.

Mr. Justice Swift made this al servation in the Divorce Court rently after dealing with an undefended petition.

"Quito half of these cases are collusive, he said. "Many pati- tions are caused by the guilty party, who writes saying, 'Plonso. divorce me. I enclose an botol bill."

"Divorce is rapidly becoming a relief for the guilty instead of s ramedy for the innocent. I am interested to know how far it is

The petitioner, James Henry Simmonds, of Rangor-street, Ac-. crington, said he had asked hie wife to sign a typewritten con- fession of misconduct. She re- fused, suspecting that there was was some catch in it.
