The second ballot in the municipal elections took place calmly all over France. In many localities the electora were less numerous than at the first ballot. In a number of constituencies where-victory for the Loft block seemed sure the opposition had counselled its supporters not to vote.

OBITUARY,

The death is announced of Sir Isidore Spielmann-Reuter, [Sir Isidoro Spielmann's chief interest lay in art exhibitions, and especially in furthering British art. He was born in London on July 21, 1854, was, married at the age of 25 and has one son and three daughters. He was educated privately in England. He was Director for "Art, Board of Trade (Exhibitions Branch); on the Executive Committee of the National Arts Collections Fund; a member of the Advisory Council of the Victoria and Albert Museum; a Governor of the British Institute of Industrial Art, and was con- nected with a very large number of art exhibitions in Britain, the Colonies and other countries. Sir Isidore Spielmann was on the Council of the British Empire Exhibition.]

Hongkong and says, "a most in- teresting series of races was siled against Hongkong and although Shanghal were defeated, it was by no means diagraced. The team on its return was loud in its praises of the kindness, hospitality and sportsmanship shown by the Royal Hongkong Yacht Club. It is hoped it will be possible to arrange a return interport series of races? with Hongkong during the coming season."
