AND RITOLA. “ New York, May 9,--The Amateur Athletic Union have temporarily lifted the ban on Nurmi, permitting him to run at Massachusetts on May 9 and May 11. The an- nouncement of the Union's decision followed a henring given to Nurmi, Ritola and Nurmi's manager Quist. The Philadelphia authorities on- nounced later that Nurmi and Ritola and several, other runners had been suspended indefinitely by the district Union on a charge of excessive expenses.

New York, May 9-Nurmi, Ritola and Quist have been ex- onerated on all counts of charges of excessive expenditure.
