·SUCCESSFUL EVENT.
The Bombay Motor Cyola and Car Club held ita third annual reliability trial recently. Thare were no less than 40 entries but. only 34 finally appeared. on these 34 only 13 starters gained first class awards. There were four sootions of trials, viz., a 100 yards accoloration test at the beginning of the run, a 4-mile speed test, the 4-mile plimb up Bhor Ghat and a reliability tim ing over the whole course. The results showed that no far as the bare were coadorned, they dropp- ad points in acceleration but almost all did the hill climb in less than the maximum time. Ou the other hand, it was found that most of the motor. oyclists lost marks on the hill climb but gain- ed full points in the acceleration test. The road throughout seem- ed to be in a good condition: except for a 10-mile, near Kirki. A left hand curve near the begin- ̈ ing of the 4-mile spead teat brought a number of cars to grief. The Police seemed to have made spacial arrangements throughout the entire journey so that the trials were conducted without any trouble to legitimate traffic or to the trials themselves by reason of straying cattle. First, class awards in the solo classes wore gained by Mr. M.D. Petit, Mr. M. W. R. Salt and Mr. W. Cooper amongst the motor oyolists. But among the riders of sidecar combinations, two out of three gained first class. Three were Mr. K. G. Batlibhoy and

In these days of rigid economies, the motorist who desires to attain, to the greatest efficiency and economy in the operation of his car must consider closely the cost, the quality, and dur ability of the lubricating oil used.
Friction has been described as the Highway robber of mechanical energy," levying tribute on all matter in motion, exerting a retarding in fluence and requiring power to overcome it.
When one realizes that if it were not for the thin film or layer of oil between the surface of the journals and their bearings, and the constant supply of lubricating oil required to maintain this film, the largest locomotive could not start a heavy train or keep it in motion, or the most powerful marine engine could not drive a ship one mile without heating of bearings, one readily understands that a knowledge of lubrication and friction and the laws relating to friction is a very important part of an oil manufacturer's knowledge.
Gargoyle Mobiloil is the result of many years of experience in the manufacture of lubricating oil, and the correct grade; as specified in the Chart of Recommendations representing the work of a score of automotive engineers, will ensure -more mileage per gallon of benzine, minimum" of friction and more power, elimination of un- necessary repairs which are so frequently due to inefficient lubrication, and long life of the engine.
