FRENCH FINANCIAL CRISIS.
Paris, April 8.
The Finance Committee of the Chamber lengthily discussed the Finance Bill in the presence of M. Demonzle. It was auggcated that the articles of the Bill providing for the issue of four milliards of new banknotes should be treated as a separate Bill and adopted immediately, whilst the remainder of the measure, providing for forced capital lonn, should be further considered.
M. Herriot refused to separate the two portions of the B and said he would stake the existence of the Cabinet on the issue.
The Committee rose in the early hours of the morning, when a communique was issued, stating that the Committee by 19 votes to- 14 votes rejected the suggested separation of the Bill, but desired to study a measure devoted entirely to the improvement of the financial situation. Therefore, they reserved the right, whilst con- sidering the remainder of the Bill, to examine any possible counter- proposals. The Committee will meet again later-Reuter.

Paris, April 8. Shidchara's Le Matin publishes Baron
statement, conveyed through the Japanese Embassy, saying that apart from the Russo- Japanese Treaty, already integrally published, nothing was eluded between these countries, and it is full of nonsense to allege that Japan would have contracted an engagement incompatible with her duty towards the League of Nations, to which she remains resolutely faithful.
Le Matin adds that far from planning a politieni alliance with the Soviets, Japan is endeavouring to tighten her relations with the Eastern powers, especially France.-Havas.
