The reopening of the medical school this year is closing a remarkable diminution in the Bumbor of women who are gutar-. ing on professional studies.

Exact figuros are not yet available, but there is good ground. for the balfof that a tendency which was marked a year ago bas become much more conspicuous to-day. The truth would seem to be that women are not obtain- ing in medicino rewards at 'all- commensurate with the difficul ties which must be overcome in obtaining qualifications: to practise. At the present moment the number of applicants for every appointment is so largo as to justify the view that the supply of women doctors has consider ably excoaded the demand.
