A mosting was held at the Tung Wah Hospital yesterday to sider the disposal of a som of about $400,000 left over from funds originally subscribed for the relief of flood victims in Kwangtung in the last visitation a fow months ago. At a previous meeting it was decided to devote the surplus to the reconstruction of river om- bankments that have been dumnag- ed, and yesterday's meeting was held principally to decide what amount should be allocated for the work.

Mr. Ma Chi-lung, Chairman of the Hospital, presided. EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS; IN JAVA.

Batavia, Nov. 14.

Severe earthquakes in Java during the past two days caused heavy landslides, and many native. towns in the Kedge district have been destroyed.
