An observer who traversed the entire route of the railway northward to Liuho on returning to-night reports that there aro no developments, and that the lines remain unchanged except for sporadic artillery supports.
A report was received to-night that the opposing forces are considering the pressing demands of the foreign and Chinese com- morcial interests for an armistice.
What is probably an authentle report from Mukden says that

Shanghai, Sept. 22.
The Japanese news agency publishes 'an announcement from the Fongtien. headquarters at Mukden saying that the seventh mixed brigade of Chihli arriving from Jehol surrounded ́and attacked the vanguard of the second Fengtien army in the district of Chaoyang on Friday. When the Fengtionese were strengthened by reinforce- ments they counter-attacked and repulsed the enemy with the re- sult that four hundred Chihli troops were wounded and two hundred killed, after which three Infantry battalions and a company of cavalry of Chihlites made another attack and were again repulsed. The Fengtien casualties were fifty killed, and wounded.

It is reported that the Fongtien plan is for the first army commanded by Chiang Teng-suan to oppose the second Chihll army commanded by Fong Yuh-sfang who expected to attack Fengtien from Haifengkow, while the second Fengtien army commanded by Li Ching-lin will attack and overcome the third Chihli army com manded by Wang Huai-ching. They will then drive toward Jehol via Chaoyang and Ling Yuan-hsien. The third Fangtien army commanded by Chang Hauch-lang will attack the first Chill army commanded by Peng Shou-shin near Shanhaikwan and the fourth Fengtion army commended by Chang Teo-helang will be stationed as reserve in the second line with Chinchow as its base. The fifth and sixth Fengtlen armies commanded by Wu Chun-sheng and Hau Lan-chow and comprising principally cavalry, have been. ordered to capture Chihfenghsien and then advance on Johol and co-operate with the second army.

The second army of the Fengtien troops report they besieged the enemy forces at Laohukou and Langshuitzu in the afternoon of the 18th Inat, the result being the fight of the whole Jehal Orst mixed brigade and one battalion of vanguards. Upon the pursuit to Peipiao, some two hundred enemy troops were killed.
The entire line of the Chinchou-Chaoyang Railway*been occupied. by Fengtien troops. General Chu's regiment captured Sanyichan.. The Fengtlen sixth army captured the city of Shultunghaien.
