A general staff communique detailing the part taken by troops In suppressing Hindu-Moslem daturbances at Kohat refers to the aerlousness of the outbreak. It monilons that the troops, were withdrawn on the evening of the hafter the first Incendiary fre had been controlled, but armed tribesmen from independent territory, attracted by the prospect of louting, entered the city late the same night and started a fresh fire which required the whole of the 10th to extinguish.

Three companies of infantry and two troops of cavalry wore employed on the 11th in restoring order.

The Daily Telegraph's Calcutta correspondent describes the out- break as one of the worst in the recent tragic records of Hindu-| Moslem animosity and says that only the promptness of the authorities'in calling out the troops prevented the manasucre of the Hindu minority. He concludes "the flames of Hindu-Mostem animosity, already Indiawide huve now spread over the frontier and aro threatening a conflagration, the extent of which one fears to visualise."-Router.

FIDAC CONGRESS HONOURS WAR DEAD

London, Sept. 15. There was a moving scene at Whileball this morning when eighty Ox-service men' representing nine Allied countries, delegates to the FIDAC (Federation Interalifee Des Arcions Combaltants) Congress which is being held in London for the first time, placed a floral crown on the base of the Cenotaph, a large crowd standing bareheaded for two minutes. Subsoquently the Congress sent a message of homge to the King, expressing itg sincere appreciation of His Majesty's devotion to the cause of peace.

Major Isadore Salmon welcomed the delegates on behalf of the London County Council, Mr. T. F. Lister, Chairman of the British Legion, read messages from Canada, South Afrlen, Rhodesia, India, Boring and Malaya wishing success to the Conference. M. Bertrand, the President, delivered a speech in French, laying stress on the fact that their task was to pratect the victims of war and to promole pence-Renter.

Kineo, Maine, Sept. 15, Princess Ladislas Radziwill, formerly Miss Helen Simpson of Chicago, was killed by falling over a hundred foot cliff, while search-

ing for a valuable ring which was lost. The edge of the cliff collapsed. She married Prince Radziwill on his January 1923-Reuter's American Service,

YESTERDAY'S ENQUIRY.: The enquiry into the circumstances tho death of a Chinese who was shot by an Indian constable whilat on duty with another Indian stable on the Taipo Read early on the morning of the 19th August, D 1451 was continued before Mr. E.
