THE BEAN "FOURTEEN”
Although introduced to the public only as recently as the Olympia Show of 1923, the
BEAN
"FOURTEEN
is not in any sense an untried car.
Actually, two years of time and very nearly 200.000 miles of testing were spent in satisfy- ing the experts that it expressed to the high- est possible degree the ideals of the discriminat. Ing Owner-driver. In its finally approved form, the Bean "Fourteen” is a British achievement of more than average interest.
WE SHALL BE PLEASED TO DEMONSTRATE THIS IDEAL FIVE-SEATER TO THOSE INTERESTED.

HOW TO GET GOOD SERVICE FROM
MICHELIN TYRES
Keep tyres pumped up to correct pressure for the load they have to carry. We can tell you what this should be.
When tyres are under inflated there is con~ tinual internal friction-between the foundation cord and the rubber, causing overheating of the tyre and consequent rapid deterioration.
Water can also enter causing rust, resulting eventually in the rims having sharp edges which cut the walls of the tyre near the head.
Most cars in Hongkong run on under inflated
tyres with the above disastrous results.
Have your wheels examined front and rear for trueness and tracking alignment. If they are at fault in this respect the tread of the cover is subject to a grinding action which quickly destroys the cover..
Keep tyres free from oil and grease.
Start and stop gently and take corners slowly.
Lastly-buy MICHELIN tyres from us and follow the
above advice and tyre satisfaction is assured.

The seriousness and force of recent floods at Kalgan can be judged from this picture which shows motor cars buried in the wreckage carried along by the water. Another car was also burled at this spot, only the top of the radiator being visible above the debris. Several Chinese were killed near here.

BALLOON TYRES
Balloon Tyres are of two types: Small Diameter.and In- terchangeable Small Diameter Trequire 20, 21 and 22 inch wheels, and will be fitted on standard to the leading makes of American Cara in future. Interchangeable, as the word implies, are for use on existing wheels and rims with which motor cars are at present equipped.
Each type achieves approximately the same result. Briefly the advantages of Balloon Tyres over regular tyres are
(1) GREATER COMFORT- The car rides much caster, because it is supported by a much larger surface of air at a low pressure, giving a soft yleiding cashion with slow and gentle re coll, Instead of the comparitively hard cushion with sharp recoll,
(2) TRACTION.-Having a so much wider sur face in contact with the road they give remark able traction." (They grip the road securely when the brakes are suddenly applied and help ~stop the carin shotter space.)
(3) PROTECTION OF THE CAR.-They reduce vibration considerably. Rattles don't develop so quickly. They materially lengthen the life of a car, and so lessen upkeep expense and depreciation."
MILEAGE-Greator mileage is not claimed, but they inay be expected to give mileage at least equal to the regular tyres they replace.
PUNCTURES.-Balloon tyres have thinner caresses but as a rule their lower pressure enables them to roll over and absorb objects that would puncture or rupture the regular highly inflated tyre. Pe
POWER, -- SPEED OR HILL CLIMBING ABILITY. If the proper size is fitted, Balloon tyres will not affect the power, speed or hill climbing, ability of the car enough to be noticeable. It might be expected that because they are larger and softer they would use up more power. But any increase in power consumption from this cause is offset by the fact that the tyres are so flexible 'that, they use up less power in rolling over the ground, and over obstacle, in the roads. Regarding average speed, this will be increased because balloon tyres enably the driver "to negotiate bumps or rough spots at higher speed.
The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Co., Inc. developed the first successful straight ́alde tyres, the first successful Cord tyres, and was first to build tyres 10% oversize.
·Balloon. Tyres are simply the evolution of these fund- amental improvements in tyre construction.
Stocks of interchangeable Balloon Tyres, in inch sizes, will be obtainable next week from the local distributors for GOODYEAR Tyres...
