Paris, July 18. Flying uninterruptedly for thirty-eight hours the Franck airmen Coupet unit Drouhin have beaten by forty-four minutes the duration record established by the Amerleans Smith and Richter last year, ---Rentor.

Mr. Plummer, vice-prealdent of the United States Shipping Board, is at present in London, accompanied by a number of American shipping experts. He declared in an interview that the object of the visit is to seek an alternative to the present system of subsidies of American shipping. He stated that the two alternatives were to enforce discriminating duties, whereby gonds carried in American bottoms would be admitted cheaper than foreign curried goods, or to induce foreign shipowners trading, to America to agree to an increase of rates in the neighbourhood of twenty per cent. -Router.

Thomas, Secretary for the Colonies, announced that the question of Dominion represen- tation at the Imperial Conference had been settled, and that any Dominion so desiring, and India, could become members of Empire Delegation to the Imperial Conference on the panel system. Representatives so appointed would attend the Conference when not sitting as members of the Empire Delegation-Renter.

London, July 18. The Legitimacy. Bill has been returned to the House of Lorda, owing to the fact that it had not paased all legislative stages before the end of the acasion wherein it was introduced.

The House of Lords last night passed an amendment which the House of Commons had previously rejected, excluding from the provisions of the bill an illegitimate child whose father or mother who married to a third person when it was born-Router.
