"It may intorost you to know that the 250 c.c. engine was doing 6,300 r.p.m. with a 5% to 1 gear at 87.3 m.p.h., and the 1,000 e.e. engine 4,69) r.p m. with a 34 to 1 gear at its maximum specd." Le Vack attributes the wonder- ful speeds he has attained to "hard work, good workmanship and material, the skill of ouri dusignors Mr. V. Pago, and the guidance of Mr. J. A. Prostwich."

The equipment of the machine was as follows

Castrol oil, K L.G. plugs, Pratte motor spirit, Hutchinson tyres," Hartford shock absorbers, and Coventry chains.

Le Vack's 996 c.c. engino is called an extra-super sports! model." It has overhead valvos actuated by push rods, and light reciprocating partz are used, with ball or roller bearings throughout. It is oxictly as doscribed in the issue of The Motor Cycle referred to, except that a JA.P. mechani. cal oil pump has now been fitted. The 248 cc. Now Imperial- J.A.P. used in the successful at- tempts on Class A world's rocords employed an ongino with an over- hoad camshaft, very similar to the 350 c.c. overhead-camshaft J.A.P. engine used by the samo rider last year.

Too much credit cannot bo paid to J. A. Prestwich and Co, to the makors of the Brough Superior, or to Le Vaok for the 1,000,c e. performances, although it is hard to say which of the throo fonts is the most noto- worthy. First, Lo Vack put up the 250 c.e world's reened by 9.22 mp.., then mado the world's record spoed for a motor cyalo,] and finished up' by breaking the 1,000 cc. sidecar by 4.01 in.p.h. In the course of the latter at- tempt ho had great difficulty in finding a pasangor, moat peoplej hoing too frightened to accept the offur, and Roally he carried an 11-stone mechanic.

By hi remarkablo fonts Le Vack has brought great erodit to the British motor oyelo industry in a foreign land. and thie Association Moto-Cyolocariste do France owes him debt of gratitude for spreading abroad the fame of its rolatively un- important meeting on the 27th uit.
